Welcome to Work/Life English: How We Help the English Language Learning Community

Founders of Work/Life English Elaine Kirn-Rubin and Arthur Rubin

For over 30 years, Work/Life English has provided fun and effective English language improvement content. As we have grown over the years, we have remained committed to advancing the lives of native English and English as a Second Language (ESL) speakers by improving their English comprehension and communication skills.

Our team’s eclectic background has resulted in a sincere understanding and empathy for those struggling with the personal and professional challenges of low English literacy.

Our founder, Elaine Kirn-Rubin, MA in TESOL, brings 45 years of teaching experience, including elementary school, university lectures, and teacher training/consulting. As a direct response to the observed needs of students and educators, Elaine sought to create a set of flexible and effective tools that would allow for English improvement through consideration of each individual’s culture, education level, personality type, and available resources.

As an MSW Social Worker with extensive experience in underserved minority communities, Elaine’s husband, Arthur Rubin, built out a product offering that helps working-class individuals build a better life via a “teach-a-man-to-fish” mentality - the idea that empowering people to care for themselves is exponentially more significant than simply handing them something.

Arthur and Elaine’s partnership in both business and marriage has led both of them to pursue interests in education, communication, and publishing. Over the years, the Work/Life English library https://worklifeenglish.com/ has built up a collection of engaging and effective tools for English, ESL, Adult Basic Education (ABE), Career and College Pathways, Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA), Adult Literacy, English Language Acquisition (ELA), Correctional Programs, and English as a Foreign Language (EFL).

Our small yet passionate team is committed to helping anyone master English - and have fun while doing it! We look forward to partnering with you in your English improvement efforts as a teacher or learner- and please feel free to contact us with any requests, feedback, questions, or concerns.
